Sam leads the execution of Headwall’s vision and strategy and is responsible for the expansion of the firm’s fund platforms as well as strengthening the firm’s technical capabilities and operational efficiencies in capital raising, deal sourcing and execution, and asset management.
Before joining Headwall, Sam helped found and grow assets under management to over $250 million as Vice President, Investments and Asset Management at Excelsior Capital in Nashville. He was also instrumental in launching and developing the Excelsior brand, implementing investor relations software Juniper Square, and serving as lead contact in an equity raise of over $78 million. Sam has led the acquisition of over $375 million in commercial real estate assets over his career and has experience overseeing asset management of over 2 million square feet of product.
Sam is active in various philanthropic and social clubs in San Antonio and serves on the San Antonio German Club Board.
In his free time, Sam enjoys hunting, fly fishing, tennis, golf, following his Georgia Bulldogs football team, and spending quality time with his wife, Emma, and two sons.
Sam graduated from The University of Georgia with a B.A. in Real Estate and obtained his Master of Real Estate from Texas A&M University.
